Welcome to 3rd Grade
Teachers: Mrs. Moebius, Mrs. Linda Nollkamper, Mrs. Kristen Smerillo, Mrs. Krissy Uhler
In Language Arts, students read many types of literature to build their fluency and comprehension. They also participate in writing workshop for both free choice topics and assigned writing tasks. Third graders learn about language arts through these themes: Communities, Endangered Species, Multicultural Cinderella, and Inventions.
In Math, topics such as time, money, measurement, fractions, patterns, and geometry are reinforced and expanded upon. New topics include decimals, multiplication facts, and circumference. These topics are learned through explorations, games, and teacher directed lessons.
In Science, Third graders study three units throughout the year. The units are:
Human Body
Electricity
Lakes, Ponds, Rivers and Streams.
In Social Studies, students learn about communities and geography. They also learn about the history of our community, Bernards Township.
In addition, students participate in many wonderful field trips related to units of study. For example, they visit the Hunterdon Historical Museum and the Bronx Zoo.
