Math- Everyday Mathematics
Everyday Mathematics offers children a broad background in mathematics.  Following are some highlights of First Grade Everyday Mathematics:

• A problem-solving approach that uses everyday situations
• Partner and small-group activities that promote cooperative learning
• Concepts and skills introduced and reviewed throughout the school year, promoting retention through a variety of exposures
• Opportunities for discussions and communicating mathematically
• Frequent practice using games to provide  an alternative to tedious drill
• A hands-on approach using physical models, such as pattern blocks, to represent mathematical concepts
